Es tut mir leid, dass ich nicht im Journal geschrieben habe, aber ich bin besonders beschäftig. Ich arbeite fast jedem Nacht, ich muss meinen Podcast aufbereiten. (Frage für besser deutsche Sprecheren: Ist aufbereiten richtig "to produce" ein Podast zu sagen?) Und meine Tochter graduiert Samstag aus Universität. Also ich habe fast kein Zeit!

Ich habe ein neuen Freund, den mit dem Internet ich getroffen habe. Er ist sehr anders von mir. Er ist ein junge Mann und ich bin eine Frau von mittlerem Alter. Er kommt aus Indien, ich war in Pennsylvania geboren. Ich weiß nicht, ob wir viele Interessen zusammen haben, aber wir beide haben ein Interesse in der deutsche Sprache. Wir schrieben hin und her auf Deutsch. Dass macht mir über Freundschaft und dem Internet zu denken. Internet ist gut für Freundschaft, glaube ich. Zum Beispiel, ich kann mit viele Freunden aus meiner Universität fast täglich durch eine Emailliste sprechen. Ich kann oft mit meiner Schwester und meiner Brüdern sprechen. Vor ich nach Deutschand gereist bin, konnte ich mit meiner Vermieterin durch den email sprechen. Aber Internet Freundschaft ist nicht gleich Freundschaft von Angesicht zu Angesicht. Man kann immer vorspiegeln, dass man anders ist. Wann Leute sind körperlich zusammen, kann die Leute tiefer einander verstehen. Es gibt ein Sprichwort auf English "die Augen sind die Fenster der Seele." Und dass ist oft richtig. Es gibt leichter zu wissen, wenn man die augen sehen kann, ob ein Person ist ehrlich oder nicht. Aber ich habe warme Gefühle über Leute, die ich mit dem internet getroffen habe. Und ich habe persönlich einige Leute getroffen, die ich durch den Inernet zuerst getroffen habe. Vielleicht das ist ein bißchen gefährlich. Ich weiß, dass meiner Internetfreunden, anders sein dürfen, als sie erscheinen. Aber ich würde noch diese Freunden haben, und sich zeitweise treffen. Ich glaube, dass sie meine Leben immer reicher machen. Ich glaube auch, dass ich habe heute nicht sehr klar geschrieben. Das Thema geht jenseits meiner Fähigkeit mit Deutsch. |
I have a new friend who I met on the internet. He is very different from me. He is a young man and I am a middle aged woman. He comes from India and I was born in Pennsylvania. I don't know if we have many common interests, but we are both interested in the German language. We write back and forth in German. This made me think a bit about internet friendship. I think that the internet is good for friendship. For example I can talk with my friends from college almost daily via an email list. I can communicate often with my sister and my brothers. Before I traveled to Germany I could talk via email with my landlady. But internet friendship is not the same as face to face friendship. One can always pretend to be different than one is. When people are physicallly together then can understand each other more deeply. There is a proverb in English "The eyes are the windows of the Soul," and that is often correct. It's easier to know, when you can see the eyes, if a person is honest. But I have warm feelings about people that I have met over the internet. And I've pesonally met some people that I met first over the internet. Maybe that is a bit dangerous. I know that my internet friends might be different than they seem. But I would still have these friends, and occasionally meet them. I believe that they make my life richer. I also think I haven't written very clearly. This subject goes beyond my skill in German. |

Ich habe elf Wochen in meinem neuen Job gearbeitet. Seit dem Mitte von Februar habe ich mit ungefähr 9 Leute gearbeitet, in drei Orten. Fünf Personen waren fransösisch, und neun Personen waren Chinesisch. Nur ein war Amerikaner.

Eine Feier in meiner Kirche/Celebration in my Church

Gestern gab es eine Feier in meinem Kirche. Wir haben ein "Festival des extravaganten Wilkommen" gehabt. Seit einem Jahr oder länger hat mein Kirche einige Werbungen im Fernsehen über dem Theme "Gott spricht immer noch" gehabt. Die erste Werbung war ein Werbespot, der zwei Rausschmeißer aufgewiesen hat. Gestern hat ein Rauschmeißer unsere Kirche besucht. (Ein ander ist sich in Florida festgefahren.) Für ein halb Stunde hat der Rauschmeißer alle die Leute ins Kirche zu gehen verhindert. Aber bei dem Rauschmeißer waren viele Kirchenleute, die alle Leute begrüßt haben. Wir sagen, dass "Gott wiest keine Leute ab. Wir auch nicht. Nach dem Stück vor der Türen, gab ein Konzert. Wir haben vier musikalishe Ensembles gehabt. Zuerst war sechs Frauen, die zusammen abgestimmt haben. Zweite war ein Gospel und Praise Chor aus einer Kirche in Baltimore. Dann haben wir eine lateinamerikanische Kapelle während einer Pause gehört. Am Ende hat den schwull und lesbish Chor aus Washington, DC gesungen. Der Abend hat viel Spaß gemacht. Wir haben guten Essen gegessen, und guten Musik gehört. Wunderbar. | Yesterday there was a celebration at my church. We had a "Festival of the Extravagant Welcom. For a year or longer my church had television advertising with the theme "God is still speaking." The first advertisin was a TV spot that featured two bouncers. Yestday a Bouncer visited our church (another was stuck in Florida) For a half hour the bounce prevented all people from entering our church. But nextto the boucer were many church people who greeted all people. We say "God didn't reject anybody. Neither do we." After this bit of theatre at the doors, there was a concert. We had four musical ensembles. First was six women that sange in harmony together. Second was a gospel and praise choir from a church in Baltimore. Then we heard a latino band during intermission. At t he end the Gay and Lesbian Chorus of Washington, DC sang. The evening was much fun. We ate good food and heard good music. Wonderful! |

Seit dem 3.April habe ich in Columbus, Ohio gearbeitet. Ich arbeite hier ungefähr 14 Wochen. Glücklicherweise kann ich wöchentlich zurück nach heim fliegen.
Columbus ist nicht besonders interessant. Ich habe meistens abends mit meinem Computer gespielt. Meistens mache ich unseren Podcast. Und ich lese. Einmal habe ich mit meinem Kollege im Stadt gefahren. Columbus ist der Hauptstadt Ohios, also wir haben die Regierungs-bauten gesehen. Wir haben auch den deutsche Bezirk besucht. Wir haben in einem deutschen Restaurant gegessen. Sie haben zwei Musiker gehabt. Wunderbar. Mein Kollege ist chinesisch, und hatte noch nie deutsches Essen gegessen. Das hat er gern gegessen! |
Since the third of April I've been working in Columbus, Ohio. I'm working here about 14 weeks. Fortunately I can fly home every weekend.
Columbus is not particularly interesting. I have mostly worked in the evening on my computer. Mosly I build our Podcast. And I read. One time, along with my collegue, I travelled into the city. Columbus is the capital city of Ohio so we saw the government buildings. We also visited the German village. We ate in a german restauarant. They had two musicians. Wonderful! My colleague is chinese, and had never eaten german food. He liked it. |
Heute habe ich ein neues Restaurant probiert, dass "Flattop Grill" heißt. Es gibt zehn oder so Flattop Grill Restaurants in Illinois und nur eins in Arlington Virginia. Flattop Grill ist ein Restaurant, in dem das essen unter Rühren kurz angebraten wird. Man geht in, und setzt sich, und bestellt ein Getränk. Dann man geht nach dem Buffet, und nimmt egal welches rohes Essen, das man will. Es gibt viele Essen, Gemüse, nur ein bisschen Fleisch, und auch Seitan und Tofu. Es gibt 40 oder mehr Soßen, und meistens sind vegetarische . Sie haben verschiedenen Nudeln auch. Dann kocht der Koch oder die Kochin deines Essen am einem flachen Grill. Es gibt viel verschiedene Lebensmittel dort. Das Essen ist besonders gut. Ich will sobald als möglich zurück gehen |
Today I tried a new restaurant, the "Flattop Grill". There are ten or so Flattop Grill restaurants in Illinoi and only one in Arlington, Virginia. Flattop Grill is a restarant in which the food is stir-fried. One goes in, sits down, and orders a drink. then one goes to the buffet and picks whatever raw food that one wants. There is a lot of food, vegetables, only a little meat, and also Seitan and Tofu. There are 40 or so sauces, and most are vegetarian. They have a variety of noodles also. Then the cook kooks your food on a flat grill. There are a variety of foods there. The food is particulalry good. I want to go back as soon as possible. |

Ich bin eine neue Podcasterin. Letzter Samstag habe ich unseren zuerst Podcast hochgeladen. Der Podcast handelt sich um die Stadtrundgänge herum Washington, DC. Er heißt "Washington TravelCast." Es gibt ein Freund von mir, Dave, der ein Podcaster (The Word Nerds seit ein Jahr ist. Ich habe vielmal gedacht, dass für mich ein Podcast über Reisen in Washington sehr lustig sein würde. Aber ich habe auch gedacht, dass Podcasting zu viel Zeit, Geld, und Fachkönnen benutzt. Ich habe recht gehabt, aber Dave hat uns viel geholfen, unser Podcast anzufangen. Ich mache den Podcast mit mein Mann. Wir fahren wöchentliche mit der U-bahn (Metro) nach Washington. Dann gehen wir durch Washington für ein oder zwei Stunden, und zeichnen unsere Rundgang auf. Wir sprechen über der Geschichte, der Architechtur, den Geschehen, der Sehenswürdigkeiten, u.s.w. Es macht viel Spaß, aber es benutzt viel Zeit. Ich hoffe, dass Leute unseren Podcast anhören werden. |
I am a new Podcaster. Last Saturday we uploaded our first Podcast. The Podcast is about Walking Tours around Washington, DC. It is called"Washington TravelCast." I have a friend, Dave, who has been a Podcaster(The Word Nerds for a year. I thought many times, that for me a Podcast about travelling in Washington would be fun, but I also thought, that podcasting requires too much time, money and skill. I was right, but Dave has helped us to begin our Podcast. I'm doing the podcast with my husband. We go into DC on Metro weekly, then we go through Washington for an hour or two, and record our walkabout. We talk about the history, architecture, events, sights, etc. It's a lot of fun, but it requires a lot of time. I hope that people will listen to our podcast. |

Als ich ein kleines Mädchen war, hat mein Vater sehr für ihre Arbeit gereist. Er hat viele Bilder aus ein Flugzeugfenster fotografiert. Und er liebtet zum Flulghaven zu gehen.

Mein Computer ist endlich zurück! Ich habe ihm letzte Freitag nach Hause gebracht. Aber ich habe leider den Inhalt meiner Festplatte verloren. Dass bedeutet, dass ich viele meiner Photos aus meiner letzten Reise nach Deutschland verloren. Eigentlich, ich habe viele Photos nach 2004 verloren. Sehr schlimm.
Zum Glück habe ich ein DVD mit der besten Photos gemacht - also ich habe ungefähr ein Viertel der Photos. Dass ist für mich wunderbar. Ich habe viel jetzt zu sagen, und ich habe nicht viel Deutsch in letzter Zeit benutzt. Also will ich wieder durch die Mittagpause schreiben. Ich schreibe über meinem neuen Job, und meinem neuen Podcast! Also, bis später! Tschüss! |
My compuer is finally back! I brought it home last Friday. But I have unfortunately lsot the contents of my hard disk drive. That means that many of my photos from my last trip to germany are lost. Actually I have lost many of the photos after 2004.
Luckily, I made a DVD with the best photos - so I have about a quarter of the photos. That's wonderful for me. I have a lot to say right now, and I haven't used German much recently. Therefore, I want to write again during my lunch hour. I'll write about my new Job and my new Podcast! So, till later! Bye! |

Aktuelle Musik: The Offertory from the Faure Requiem, and He Leadeth Me
Gestern ist ein Freund von mir gestorben. Seiner Name war Riley. Er war ein außergewöhnliche Mensch, der in unserem Kirchenchor gesungen hat. Riley hatte eine volle reiche laute Baritonstimme. Er war ein häufiger Soloist, und zwar würde er die Baratonsolostimmen von Faures Requiem mit unserem Chor nächstem Monat singen. Gestern mussten wir das Requiem ohne Riley proben, und dass ging sehr schwer. Riley war besonders wichtig zu unserer Kirche zum Teil, weil er war schwul. Unsere Kirche sich heißt "Open and Affirming", das bedeutet, dass wir alle Menschen akzeptieren wollen. Aber wir sind relativ selbstbewusst über dass. Riley hat uns geholfen, besser "Open and Affirming" zu verstehen. Ein andere Freund hat richtig gesagt, dass Riley "hat uns in der Ernsthaftigkeit zu entspannen geholfen, sonst würden wir zu schwerig probieren." (Dass ist nicht genau, du musst auf English lesen.) Einfach haben wir Riley gelebt. Ich glaube, dass Riley gedacht hat, dass unsere Kirche für ihm wichtig war. Aber Riley war wichtiger für die Kirche. Ich hoffe, dass wir ihrem Partner gut tragen kann. | Yesterday a friend of mine died. His name was Riley. He was an extraordinary person who sang in our Church Choir. Riley had a full, rich, loud Baritone voice. He was a frequent soloist, indeed next month he would have sung the Baritone solos in Faure's Requiem with our choir. Yesteray we had to practice the Requiem, and that was very hard. Riley was especially important to our Church, in part because he was gay. Our Church calls itelf "Open and Affirming," which means that we want to accept all people. Although we are relatively self-conscious about it. Riley heped us to understand "Open and Affirming" better. Another friend has correctly saigd, that Riley "helped us relaxing into a sincerity that might otherwise have been fogged by trying too hard." We simply loved Riley. I think that Riley thought that our church was important to him. But Riley was more important for the church. I hope, that we can support his Partner well. |

Das Reisen - Connecticut / Travelling - Connecticut

Ich habe viele Zeit, also wahrscheinlich schreibe ich viel in meinem Blog heute. Ich habe mein neuen Job diese Woche angefangen, und ich musste nach Trumbull, CT reisen. Die Reise ging relativ gut. Ich warte jetzt für meine Flug, die am 7 Uhr fliegt, und jetzt ist es fast am 3 Uhr. Also ich schreibe und surfe das Internet. Der Job gefällt mir. Ich arbeite für ILOG, eine Firma, die die Entscheidungsunterstützungssysteme macht. Sie ist eine Internationalefirma, die die Hauptgeschäftsstelle bei Paris im Frankreich hat. (Ich hoffe, das die letzte Satz grammatikalisch richtig ist!) Ich arbeite als eine Beraterin mit beruflicher Dienste. Also ich gehe nach einem Auftraggeber mit einem Arbeitsteam. Wir hilfen den Auftraggeber einem System zu erstellen. Das bedeutet, dass ich fast immer reisen muss. Nächste Woche habe ich keine Aufgabe, deshalb habe ich manche Zeit zu lernen, und der nächsten Woche zu vorbereiten. Dann gehe ich im Buro in Arlington, Virginia, weil ich sehr neu bin. Aber ich werde ein paar Telefonkonferenzen haben, die ich nach Heim annehmen kann. Der neue Job ist besser als meinem alten Job, weil er viele Herausforderungen hat. Auch, er ist mehr interessant, und ich kann viel lernen. Aber ich weiß schon genug erfolgreich zu sein. Das ist eine besonders gute Vereinigung. Der Nachteil ist natürlich, dass ich viel reisen muss! Mein mann ist nicht froh, wenn ich reise! Aber die Firma lasst uns jedem Wochenende nach heim fahren. Wir glauben, dass wir das Gute an der Sache sehen können. (Am ende diesem Satz ist ein Idiom, und ich bin nicht sicher, dass er richtig ist! Bitte sagt mir!) |
I have a lot of time, so probably I'll write a lot in my blog today. I started my new job this week, and had to travel to Trumbull, CT. The trip went relatively well. I'm currently waiting for my flight, which leaves at 7:00, and now it is almost 3:00. So I write and surf the internet. I like the job. I work for ILOG , a company that makes computer decision support systems. It is an international firm, with it's headquarters near Paris in France. (I hope the last sentence is grammatically correct!) I work as a Consultant with professional services. So I go to a client with a work team. We help the client build a system. That means that I must almost always travel. Next week I have no work, therefore I have some time to learn, and to prepare for the next week. Then I'll go to the office in Arlington, Virginia, because I am very new. But I'll have a couple of conference calls, which I will take at home. The new job is better than my old job, because it is very challenging. Also it is more interesing and I can learn a lot. But I already know enough to be successful. That is a particularly good combination! The downside is, of course, that I have to travel a lot. My husband is not happy when I travel. But the company lets us come home every weekend. We think that we can make the best of it. (At the end of this sentence is an idiom, and I am not sure that it is right. Please tell me!) |

Mittwoch fange ich ein neuen Job an. Ich muss in meinem neuem Job sehr reisen, tatsächlich muss ich nächstem Dienstag nach New York fliegen, um früh am Mittwoch dort zu sein. Ich hoffe, dass ich dann mehr bloggen kann. Aber, am Anfang habe ich kein persönlichen Computer, und sie wollen mich meinen Arbeitscomputer für persönlichen Dinge nicht zu benutzen. Also jetzt würde ich ein Powerbook haben. Also ich muss ein Internetcafe finden. Diese wochenende schreibe ich mehr über dem neuen Job. |
Wednesday I'll begin a new job. I have to travel a lot in my new job, actually next Tuesday I have to fly to New York, in order to be early on Wednesday. I hope that I can blog more, but at the beginning I'll have no personal computer, and they don't want me to use my work computer for personal things. So now I want a Powerbook. So I have to find an internet cafe. This weekend I'll write more about the new job. |

Ich habe zwei gute Filme diesen Wochenende gesehen. Das zuerst war "The New World" unter der Regie von Terrence Malik. Ich habe es gesehen, weil eine von meiner schwägerinnen im Film gespielt hat. Der Film war sehr gut, und besonders schön. Die Schauspielkunst war sehr gut, und die Kinematographie war sehr schön. Ich habe kein Idee, wie sie hat so viel schönes Wald gefunden, aber die Natur ist eine der Filmstares dieses Film. Der Film ist auch leider ein bisschen langsam. Nichts passiert schnell hier. Und die Wörter sind fast alle unbedeutende. Die Regisseur hat auch ein paar mal sehr ersichtliche Metapher benutzt. Das war besonders getreu in die Szenen in England. Aber, wenn du Geduld habe, ist dieser Film besonders reichlich. Heute haben wir "Oktoberfest" gesehen. Dieses Film ist ein neuer deutscher Film. Es geht um die weltbekannte Feste in München. "Oktoberfest" ist eines Drama über einem Tag während Oktoberfest. Es erzählt sechs oder so Geschichten, die während Oktoberfest passieren. Der Film erinnert mich an Robert Altmans "Nashville", weil es viele Handlungen einer Geschichte hat, die bei, durch, um und mit einander passieren. Est geht auch um dem Terroranschlag, der in 1980 passiert hat. Die Schauspielkunst in diesem Film ist besonders frisch. Die Schauspieler sind sehr natürlich. Und der Film gibt ein gutes Idee über dem Fest. Wir hatten eine überraschung am Ende. Die Regisseur, Johannes Brunner, war dort (in Landmark E Street Theatre), und er sprach mit uns nach dem Film. Er sprach über die Herausforderungen von während echtes Oktoberfest zu filmen. Die haben dreizehn Tagen vor Ort gefilmt. Er sprach auch über dem Budget (2 Millionen Euro), der Rollenverteilung, der Geschichten, usw. Das war für mich besonders interssant. Ich habe ein paar Bilder von "Oktoberfest" hier bestimmt. Leider kann ich nicht Bilder aus "The New World" hier aufgestellt. Ich kann beide Filme empfehlen. Ich bin froh, dass ich beide Filme gesehen habe. |
I saw two good movies this weekend. The first was "The New World", directed by Terrence Malik. I saw it because one of my sisters-in-law acts in the film. The film was very good and particularly beautiful. The acting was very good, and the Cinemetography was very beautiful. I have no idea how they found so much beautiful forest, but Nature is one of the stars of this film. The film is also, unfortuantely, a little slow. Nothing happens quickly. And words are almost all unimportant. The director also has a used a few very obvious Metaphors. That was particularly true in the scenes in England. But if you have patience, this film is very rich. Today we saw "Oktoberfest". This fil is a new German Film. It concerns the world famous Festival in Munich. Oktoberfest is a new drama about one day during Oktoberfest. It presents six or so stories that happen during Oktoberfest. The film reminds me of Robert Altman's "Nashville", because it has many storylines that occur near, through, and with each other. It also concerns the Terrorist attack that happened in 1980. The Acting in this film is particularly fresh. The actors are very natural. And the film gives a good idea of the Festival We had a surprise at the end. The director, Johannes Brunner was there (in the Landmark E. Street Theatre) and he spoke to us after the film. Es spoke about the challenges of filming during the real Oktoberfest. They filmed thirteen days on site. He spoke also about the budget (2 Million Euro), the Casting, the stories, etc. That was very interesting to me. I posted here a couple of pictures from "Oktoberfest." Wie sagt man "Look and feel" auf Deutsch? Ich habe die Aufmachung meinen Journal gewechseln. Ich hoffe, dass es jetzt leichter zu lesen ist. Schick mir ein E-mail zu sagen was du denkst über der neuen Aufmachung. Ich habe gesagt, dass dieser Woche das Goethe Instut eine deutsche Filmfestspiel besitzt. Nach ein paar Minuten gehen mein Mann und ich nach Washington, DC, "Oktoberfest" zu sehen. Also, ich muss gehen. Aber, vielleicht schreibe ich eine kleine Kritik nach dem Film. Es tut mir leid. Ich habe nicht dieses Journal dreimal pro Woche geschrieben. Ich habe dass zu tun versprochen. Diese Woche habe ich den Meetup.com Stammtisch in Vienna besucht. Er war klein diesem Monat. Nur sechs oder sieben Leute. Aber er war sehr interessant. Dieser Monat können der Deutsch und die Österreicherin nicht kommen, deshalb waren wir alle Studenten oder Übersetzer. Alle waren relative gute deutsch Sprecher. Dass bestimmt sehr gutes Gespräch. Diese Wochenende gehe ich zweimal ins Kino. Heute gehe ich mit meiner Familie "The New World" zu sehen. Einer von meiner Schwägerinnen spielt in diesem Film. Also ich gehe mit einem anderen Bruder und seiner Frau (und natürlich mit meinem Mann). Morgen ich gehe nach Washington DC ins Kino. Das Goethe Institut dort besitzt ein deutsches Filmfestival. Ich sehe morgen "Oktoberfest". Ich kann ein anderen Tag leider nicht gehen.

I'm sorry. I haven't written in this journal three times per week. I had promised that. This week I visite the Meetup.com German Conversation Group in Vienna. It was small this month. Only six or seven people. But it was very interesting. This months the German man and Austrian woman could not come, so we were all students or translators. That made for good conversation. This weekend I'm going to the movies twice. Today I'm going with my family to see "The New World." One of my sisters-in-law acts in this film. So I'm going with another brother and his wife, and of course with my husband. Tomorrow I'm going into Washington, DC to the movies. The Goethe Institut there holds a German Film Festival. Tomorrow I'm going to see "Oktoberfest". Unfortunately I can't go another day. Hopefully I have a new picture today, which was taken of me in Gemrnay. This picture was for my Transport Pass in Bonn. |

Ich warte noch über dem Job. Morgen habe ich eine andere Vorstellunggespräch. Freitag habe ich ein Projectplan als "Hausaufgabe gemacht." Mein Vorstellunggesprächprozess ist besonders lang. Aber es gibt ein sehr gutes Job für mich, also ich muss immer geduldig sein.

I'm still waiting about the Job. Tomorrow I have another interview. Friday I wrote a project plan as Homework. My interview process is particularly long, but it is a good job for me, so I have to continue to be patient.

frustratedIn den letzten zwei Wochen habe ich fünf Vorstellunggespräche gehabt. FÜNF! Mit nur einer Firma. Und nach jedem Gespräch sagen die Leute, dass perfekt ich für diesen Job bin! Aber sie haben noch nicht die Stelle angeboten.
